Josh’s success story
A homeless man that VCS has been working with has gone from sleeping outside Greggs to finding a job in just one month.
If you follow our social media, you might have seen Josh’s story – he approached Vulnerable Citizen Support for help in December after two years of sleeping rough in Leeds. When he first walked into our welfare centre, Josh, 25, had been sleeping rough outside Greggs on Kirkstall Road.
Josh seemed like a perfect candidate for our container home project – he was determined to make changes and turn his life around with a little bit of help. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Vulnerable Citizen Support has raised enough money to place Josh in a B & B over the Christmas period, and started supporting Josh to get his life back on track. He started volunteering for us three days a week, delivering food parcels, collecting furniture and even helping to distribute presents to struggling families on Christmas Day. The change in Josh has been immense, largely thanks to his own hard working at pushing through barriers and staying clean, and last week he secured a job. On Monday, he will start working for an upcoming bus company in Selby, preparing buses to get them ready to go on the road. Hear Josh’s story in his own words here:
